Welcome! This website is all about the beautiful country of Iceland. On the hamburger menu, you can also access our images of Iceland!
Iceland is one of the most beautiful places in the world, full of volcanoes, and other natural wonders. It is located southeast of Greenland and
is an amazing place to visit.Since Iceland is isolated from the rest of the world, the only easy way to get there is by Plane. The countries flag carrier is Iceland Air and serves their primary airport Keflavik outside of their capital Reykjavik. During the summer season, it is around $515 USD to travel from Boston, Massachusetts to Iceland. You can find more info here.
While you are in the city, here are some things to do in Reykjavik. First, if you have extra time in the evening, we recommend walking along the water during sunset. It provides a beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean with the sun setting over it. Next up, we highly recommend viewing the National Museum of Iceland. It provides background on the start of human settlement there all the way to present day. Another great place to visit is the Blue Lagoon, a warm, blue pool of water in the vast, cold expanse of Iceland. It's great to visit, especially during the winter. Further out from Reykjavik, there are some beautiful mountains, such as the Kirkjufell, AKA Church Mountain. It provides a great view and also has a nearby waterfall.
Due to Iceland's remote nature, they have many unique foods to try out! First up we have Rúgbrauð, a dense rye bread, often cooked using Iceland's plentiful geothermal energy. Next up is the Icelandic Hotdog. If you think this is just a normal hotdog, you would be mistaken as they are from lamb, beef, and pork! They are also topped with ketchup, mustard, fried and raw onions, and remoulade. You also can't forget Iceland's amazing seafood. Since they are so isolated, their largest food source is fish such as Cod, Haddock, Artic Char, and Halibut. Finally we also have Skyr. Skyr is a thick and creamy yogurt native to Iceland with low fat content.
Due to Iceland's proximity to the North Pole, during peak summer times it is easy to see the beautiful Northern Lights in many places around the country. Also, during August this year, Iceland is also experiencing a total solar eclipse some parts of the country.
